What is hay fever?
Hay fever is an allergic reaction to pollen. Common symptoms include:
- 🤧 Sneezing
- 👀 Itchy or watery eyes
- 👃 Runny or blocked nose
- 😣 Throat irritation or cough
- 😴 Tiredness during high‑pollen periods
Reduce your exposure
- 🪟 Keep windows closed during high‑pollen times
- 🚿 Shower and change clothes after being outdoors
- 🕶️ Wear wraparound sunglasses
- 👕 Avoid drying clothes outside
- 💧 Apply a barrier balm around the nostrils
- 📈 Check the daily pollen forecast
Treatment options
Speak to a pharmacist about:
- 💊 Antihistamines
- 🌫️ Steroid nasal sprays
- 👁️ Anti‑allergy eye drops
- 🔄 Combination treatments
If you have Asthma
Hay fever can worsen the symptoms of asthma or other respiratory conditions. Seek medical advice if you notice:
- 😤 Increasing breathlessness
- 🫁 Wheeze
- 🧱 Chest tightness
- 💨 Reduced response to usual inhalers
