Walking group information

We have chatty/friendship walking groups that are led by volunteers. The walks are aimed at those wishing to exercise gently and there are currently four groups, with weekly walks starting from Abbeydale Community Centre at 10am and 11:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The walks starting at 10am are for approximately 60 minutes and those starting at 11:30am are for approximately 30 minutes. You are very welcome to come and join any of these group walks; to register please read the disclaimer below then complete a Social Prescribing referral Social prescribing referral – Hadwen Health, choosing ‘Other’ from the range of options, and stating ‘I wish to join one of the walking groups’. One of our Social Prescribing Link Workers will then be in touch to introduce you to the relevant walk leader.

Disclaimer for Hadwen Health Walking Group

Walking is one of the healthiest and safest outdoor activities. However, neither Hadwen Health nor the Walk Leader has control of the environment of the walks, the weather, any animals or indeed any of the walkers themselves and whilst taking normal precautions, and providing reasonable help and assistance if necessary, they cannot accept responsibility or legal liability for any circumstances affecting the health and safety of any walker in the group. Participants are therefore responsible for assessing their own risk and safety.

Dogs are not permitted on any of the walks.  Participants on walks should follow the advice/instructions of the Walk Leader in order to minimise risk to themselves and should also ensure that they do not endanger any others in the party. Any medical conditions that may affect any participant during the walk should be notified to the Walk Leader prior to the start of each walk. Participants should also ensure that they wear footwear, clothing, and sun protection appropriate for the weather conditions on the day of each walk, and ensure that they are sufficiently hydrated.
